Week 16: Rhoda's Weight Loss Diary

Rhoda – end of week 16

How I’m feeling:
I am feeling much more confident in my clothes now and enjoying picking outfits, where as before I was filled with dread.

Weight loss update:
Lost 0.3kg this week. Weight lost to date 7.8 kilos/1 stone 3 lbs

Biggest challenge in the last week:
Definitely the biggest challenge has been saying no to various lunches/brunches/cocktails out, now that many bars and restaurants are opening up again.

Biggest success in the last week:
Wearing a bodysuit with jeans again! I am paranoid about my tummy area, after 2 kids (only one year apart) I am super self-conscious, however I now feel confident enough to wear my bodysuit and skinny jeans with no hiding :) 


Without probably realising it I have coasted along without having the temptation of cocktails and brunches out, as everything was closed during lockdown. It almost took the social challenges out of my hands. However with the new given freedom does come certain challenges - I have been asked out to dinner or for drinks by many of my friends. I have found it much easier to be open and honest and explain that I would love to meet them for coffee or lunch but I would be “bringing my own” as I am following the Temple Vie programme and will not be drinking alcohol just now.

It did get me thinking generally about how unhelpful it can be for people to say things like “just have a few gins, it won’t matter” or “surely you can have one weekend off.” People may not want to drink for a whole number of reasons, if you find yourself in this situation with a friend why not ask if they would prefer a soft drink/water.

I am fortunate to have understanding friends who take a genuine interest in what I am doing and fully support me.

This also led me to start planning activities that I can enjoy with friends that are not food/alcohol related.
